Bless a Special Needs Parent

Amy Mason presents this little book of comfort and encouragement from God's Word.  When parents have a child with special needs, they are often exhausted and often in need of true encouragement.  Rather than speaking empty words like "I don't know how you do it," why not give timeless words from God Himself? His Word has brought comfort to generations of His people, and they still have power today.

Bible Promises for Parents of Children with Special Needs should be in your church library, Sunday School resource room, and in the hands of every family in your church facing the special challenges posed by a child's physical, mental, or emotional condition.

A Story of Lydia, Beautifully Done

While I am not a big reader of fiction, I do love well done historical fiction.  Tessa Afshar has given me the kind of story I enjoy--a Bible character presented as her life might have been if we knew her back story.  The scriptural events in Lydia's life are included, such as meeting Paul and becoming a baptized believer, along with a speculative story of one way she might have come to be a single businesswoman, thriving in the Roman Empire.

Roman history and law, Jewish faith, and the Bible account inform this compelling story of one of the women who made the cut and were included in the Scriptures.  Afshar has included suspense, intrigue, betrayal, romance, and spiritual struggles with believable characters.  This is a great story, not fluffy "chick fiction."

I encourage you to get Bread of Angels to enjoy for yourself.

The Kinsman Chronicles

Readers of fantasy fiction will be happy to know this series, The Kinsman Chronicles, is now available in bound book form as well as e-book format.  Jill Williamson's 6-part series now comes in two books.  Book 1 contains parts 1-3 and is entitled King's Folly while Book 2, King's Blood, completes the series with parts 4-6.

King's Blood picks up after the destruction of the Five Realms and follows the adventures of those left drifting at sea in ships, seeking a new home.  Read on to find out if the Deliverer can be found and the people can survive.

The God You Thought You Knew--Book Review

Alex McFarland is all about "myth busting."  In this book, he tackles ten common myths about Christianity.  You have heard them, without a doubt.  Some examples are:
  • Science has disproven Christianity;
  • A loving God wouldn't send anyone to hell; and
  • Christianity is not for the educated.
Christians know these myths are wrong, but it is also important to know why they are wrong.  I would encourage all Sunday School teachers, parents, and other committed believers to take the time to read this relatively short (202 pages) book.  It is densely packed with the information you need to give an answer to anyone who asks the reasons for the hope you have within you.
